DIY

This one is for avid DIYers who did at least 50% of the work themselves. So if knocking down walls or retiling doesn’t scare you, go for it! You’ll have to submit a budget breakdown and show what you did with your own two hands.

Requirements: At least 50% of work done by you - Budget breakdown submission required.

Prize: Winner R30,000 | Runner-up R10,000

MOST BEAUTIFUL

If you’re all thumbs and have a fear of power tools but you oversaw a gorgeous renovation and paid for it, consider this option. Even if a contractor completed 100% of the physical work, you are eligible for this prize.

Requirements: Project oversight by entrant - Professional contractor work acceptable.

Prize: Winner R30,000 | Runner-up R10,000

INNOVATION

If you fancy yourself an out-of-the-box thinker, this category is for you. It could be a mobile home, an outdoor kitchen – you name it! Whether you did it yourself or managed the project, feel free to enter your makeover here.

Requirements: Innovative design or concept - Creative thinking and execution.

Prize: Winner R30,000 | Runner-up R10,000

HOW IT WORKS

Entries open on 17 April 2026 and close at midnight on 17 July 2026, and no late entries will be accepted!
Only online entries will be accepted.

Upload the ‘before’ and ‘after’ photos of the project you’d like to enter. If you are unable to complete your entry in one attempt, you can select the ‘save’ option at the bottom of the form and create a Jotform account to receive a link where you can complete your entry within 30 days.

FINALISTS

Finalists will be contacted via email. The decision of the organisers and selection of the winners is final, and no correspondence will be entered into.

PRIZES

Prize money to be redeemed within 6 months of notification.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

1. The competition is open to anyone in South Africa and Namibia except the employees of Media24, the competition sponsors, their subsidiaries, promotional and advertising agencies and immediate family members. 2. No AI-generated images will be considered for any competitions in Tuis | Home where the submission of an image is the entry mechanism. 3. Winners and finalists should be prepared to be photographed and filmed for other media purposes which form part of the competition. 4. All projects entered in the Fix it with Flair competition should have been completed within the last three years. 5. Entrants are required to grant Tuis | Home access to the property for photographic shoots. 6. Entrants who do not comply will be disqualified. 7. Entries & images remain the property of Tuis | Home; any images may be used in Tuis | Home, related publications and online. 8. The editor reserves the right to transfer entries from one category to another.
