Thought your air-fryer was only for chips? Think again –
from casseroles to bread, you just need the right tools.
Have a look at these four items (that many of us already have) that can change the way you look at your air-fryer. These are kitchen staples, and if you don’t have them yet or need to replace them, the best place you can look is at Cash Converters. This is where a treasure trove of high-quality kitchen appliances, accessories and those must-have, trustworthy tools await. From Le Creuset casseroles to Bauer pans and Kitchen Aid mixers (or an air-fryer!) – you never know what you might find.
The loaf tin
You can use your air-fryer to bake everything from lasagna to banana bread. A 10 cm x 20 cm loaf tin fits comfortably inside the baskets of most air-fryers. Make sure the tin isn’t too high – it mustn’t touch the element of the air-fryer. A height of up to 12 cm is a safe choice.
The ‘frying pan’
For frying, a round cake tin works wonders. Use it for poaching eggs, frying breakfast dishes and even browning food. It’s best to use tins that are not non-stick – they heat up faster and ensure that food browns quickly and easily. Keep the height of your tin in mind!
The square cake tin
A square cake tin is your best friend when it comes to stir-frying and roasting in your air-fryer. Choose one of about 18 cm x 18 cm and, as with the loaf tin, check that it doesn’t reach the element of the air-fryer.
A casserole in your fryer
A 22 cm cast-iron casserole fits inside the basket of most air-fryers. Usually, you’ll have to remove the tray from the bottom of your air-fryer and place the dish directly on the base to prevent it from touching the element at the top. But you don’t necessarily have to use a casserole – one of the methods above would work just as well
